Meet Marco

Marco Bucci

Illustrator

Marco Bucci recognized two things at a young age. The first was that he wanted to become a professional artist. The second was that he couldn't draw. This delayed him for quite some time. He filled that time pursuing other artistic interests such as music and writing, but the urge to draw never left him. At age 19 he began to study classical drawing, which led him to kindle a love for painting and illustration. He hasn't looked back since. Marco's experience includes books, film, animation, and advertising. His clients include: Walt Disney Publishing Worldwide, LEGO, LucasArts, Mattel Toys, Fisher-Price, Hasbro, Nelvana, GURU Studio, C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures, Yowza! Animation Inc., Pipeline Studios, and more. Marco is available for freelance work on projects big and small! Feel free to email - [email protected].

Testimonials

“Amazing product, have learned so much and it comes with homework that gets you that mileage, Also had an issue with my purchase due to my mistake and it was resolved very fast!”

Geiner Alfaro

“I've taken a few expensive courses in the past and have watched a lot of instructional videos, and I think this stuff is the best out there.”

“Marco Bucci is an amazing artist, and I’m a huge fan of his work. I’m a recent artist (only started drawing in my junior year of high school and doing it recently to almost a year after graduating college) and I’m learning a lot of stuff from his course. I recommend anyone who loves art to pick this course up.”

Nathan Kromer

“Well thought out course. Marco knows how to explain things for us beginners to understand.”

Andrew Bell

“This course, like all his other courses are just a home run hit. I can't say enough that Marco's courses are absolutely gold when it comes to the learning material and delivery of how he teaches. Any artist of any artistic interest can greatly benefit from his material and apply it. Really great explanation here for drawing gesture, and shapes. Also a great resource for perspective, in a simplified way and easily appliable to studies. Marco is a teacher that knows how to deliver the information so that it is easily digestable. I have come upon many different art teachers or artists trying to teach materials, Marco is a rare one that knows how to deliver his lectures and teachings with all the fundamentals, this is why I speak so highly of his material. So great that I even bought this course a second time as a gift for a friend! 100% recommend! Thank you Marco!”

Jaleah Delphino

“I've tried a couple of courses for beginner artists and almost all of them skip/gloss over these fundamentals. This was a great course that was easy to follow and provided great insight into the thought process behind pretty much each brush stroke while also including larger concepts in a digestible way.”

“Marco’s teaching is the best that I have seen, and I am a qualified former teacher. Why do I believe this? While other reviewers have commented on the course specifics, I’d like to explain why I believe this (and Marco’s other courses) are so excellent and why you would be wise to invest in them. When I started my own art journey I took many classes and courses. Eventually, due to moving house so much, I ended up relying on online classes. Youtube is a great resource and, despite discovering Marco’s videos early on, I found myself believing that I should follow many different and highly regarded teachers. However, this really only resulted in confusion and overwhelm. All the online art teachers have their own style and nuances. But, while there are a few excellent teachers online, I always found myself coming back to Marco’s videos for clarity. This is because it is clear that Marco has deeply considered what the student needs to know, exactly when they need to learn it during the lesson or course. He gets straight to the point without added fluff, and also perfectly balances the explanation and demonstration aspects of art teaching. I suspect a lot of this ability is down to Marco’s own thoughtful nature, which comes across in his teaching, but also he has acknowledged that, despite being a very successful and accomplished artist and illustrator, he did not go to art school. This reminds me of how experts often state that one of the reasons Shakespeare was such a great writer was because he did not go to university. While university can be beneficial, it can also channel an individual’s thinking into a fairly narrow constraint and instil a more rigid paradigm on a young person. Without this (if you are blessed with a searching mind, self-discipline and determination), you are more free to make your own discoveries, learn from a wider pool of others with which you resonate, which can be much more enriching. This allows you to develop a deeper understanding of your craft, because you’ve been forced to think about it rather than simply being fed it. I feel that Marco has excellently consolidated this breadth of understanding in art and the needs of the student, which comes across in Marco’s teaching and is perfect for beginners, experienced beginners, and experts alike.”

“Marco is one of the best teacher around, no doubt about it.”

Marco Fornaciari

“Marco Bucci in terms of teaching has been a very interesting teacher and his great virtues is in delivering videos of greater accessibility on the youtube platform in relation to the fundamentals of art around his painting skills, no doubt that he explains so clearly for topics as complex as art that speaks very well about him. Now to be honest, while my purchase towards this product was partly out of a huge curiosity as well as my encouragement to keep learning, I didn't have Marco Bucci on my radar as one of my favorite teachers, until I was confronted with these huge videos full of tasks, tips and above all a teaching that becomes like mtryoshka dolls, as you take out one doll, you have another, and another very essential one. What I mean is that in each video you won't only find it interesting, but the more times you watch it, you get something new or something more interesting. While studies never ends and we have a lot of time as a habit, the grace in his tutorials is when you see it for the first time you are surprised, just as for a veteran person sees his classes and is still surprised, because these videos are here to remind us of the essential: understanding what are you drawing.”

Gabriel Palacios

“I've been following your videos on YouTube with lots of excitement since I stumbled upon them recently. Not only do I love your playful painting style, you're an excellent teacher and your tutorials are very approachable for someone like me who's new to painting. I intend to buy more, as and when I'm ready for them. ”

Frequently Asked Questions

There are no absolute requirements, but I do recommend having a tablet (a product like Wacom or Huion, for example) as well as a digital painting application.

For traditional media, any brand of watercolors and gouache will work, though do not recommend student-grade paints. I use brands like Winsor&Newton, Holbein, and Daniel Smith. I also recommend using at least 140lb paper, as anything thinner will not be able to survive multiple washes.

If you’re interested in painting, I think the best place to begin is at my YouTube channel. I have many short lessons there covering a whole slew of important art fundamentals. Then I recommend purchasing the videos in the Digital Painting series, as those videos feature in-depth demonstrations, in real time, of which fundamentals I am applying, and how I am applying them.

Understanding and Painting the Head is also a good choice for beginners who have a little bit of drawing experience, but want to know how to take the next steps and develop good habits.

Illustrating Children’s Books will take you through many important fundamental drawing and painting lessons, applicable to any project or medium.
